Plants propagated from a plant collected by Roy Lancaster in China. One of the very few autumn flowering willows. The silver catkins begin to appear on the current seasons growth in August and continue until November. Small cotoneaster-like leaves on reddish stems add to its general attraction. While in flower the female catkins, which are rich in nectar, attract bees, butterflies and hosts of other pollinating insects. This combined with the long flowering season make this one of my top wildlife shrubs. The leaves are also a food source for native insects such as Eyed Hawkmoth!
