Small evergreen shrub for a shady spot where its light green flowers light up in March.

Another one of Ernest Wilson’s excellent introductions from China. This ornamental currant can be used as ground-cover but I like to train it up fences or the trunks of trees. The light green flowers don’t sound very exciting but like many of this type they come to life in the shade, becoming inconspicuous if the shrub is grown in the sun. Adaptable but is not happy in very dry root filled soils.
