Daphne odora 'Aureomarginata'
Evergreen bush about 1m tall with richly fragrant reddish-purple flowers. AGM.
£11.95
An evergreen bush about as wide as its tall with glossy-green leaves narrowly margined in creamy yellow. Reputedly hardier than the green form this is certainly not true as many green leaved types are merely reversions from ‘Aureomarginata’. There can be few shrubs that are more fragrant. Like so many winter flowering shrubs it is best planted in a West aspect or near a wall etc. not least because the warmth of such sites helps to bring out that precious scent. Fertile soils, sun or light shade, flowering from mid-February into March.
