Raised by Hillier’s propagater Alan Postill in 1982 from D. Bholua ‘Gurkha’ this is a very hardy form. Predominantly evergreen, even in my frost pocket garden. The flowering season can start in late Jan but is primarily through February and even early March. Deep reddish-mauve flowers in bud open to light pink and carry the trademark powerful-sweet fragrance. Needs fertile soil and in milder areas can be planted as a free standing shrub, otherwise it requires protection from North or East Winter winds. Sun or light shade.
